Why is 'North of Hollywood'
doing all of this?

First and foremost, we LOVE making movies. We believe there is no greater art form. Movies are Entertainment, Emotion, Magic and Art that have been condensed down to a narrow strip of celluloid or tape. Then, when it's projected onto a screen, we are drawn into it.

In Hollywood, the art of filmmaking has been as difficult to get into as some exclusive club. Today, Hollywood is no longer the only source for feature films. Independent (Indie) filmmakers around the world have made there presence known through the creation of wonderful films of their own. Film distributors don't care where the film came from, they just want films that can make a profit. Indie films usually cost less, and show a return sooner than their Hollywood counterparts.

So, movies are just as much about business as art. Filmmakers that can earn their investors a fair return will continue to get the funding they need to produce that "next" film.

We, at "North of Hollywood Productions", refuse to standby and wait for anyone to tell us that it's okay for us to proceed. We are taking control of our futures, and accept full responsible for our own success. And, we will succeed. We must succeed, because we will not accept anything less. We will constantly re-evaluate our approach, and stick with what works...changing what doesn't.


While we enjoy a good "Art Film" as much as the next film fan. The people who produce art films often turn their nose up at the mention of a 'mainstream' Hollywood Picture. We don't see making popular movies as "selling-out".

We want to produce movies that our family and friends will enjoy too, not just film enthusiasts. Our goal is to create high-quality movies that possess a wide appeal, for a bargain price. Movies that could easily be mistaken for a Hollywood film costing much, much more!

We want our movies to be distributed, and we want them to be seen by as many people as possible. At "North of Hollywood Productions", we think that's what filmmaking is all about - entertaining our audience.

Finally, 'North of Hollywood' is not about its founder, James Bynum - or any other individual. It is about a group of talented people coming together and creating something that none of us could have created on our own. It's about being part of a creative process that results in something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Doing what we love, and creating something we can truly be proud of in the process.
